Equipment Installed:

A three-phase solar PV and battery storage system was installed at this church in Orton, Cumbria, helping the site reduce long-term energy costs while strengthening its role within the local community during periods of grid disruption.

Built around a HANCHU 36kW three-phase hybrid inverter and 56.4kWh of high-voltage battery storage, the system was designed to support the ongoing energy demands of the church while improving resilience, efficiency and long-term sustainability.

The overall system is projected to achieve a full payback period of approximately 6 years and 10 months, alongside estimated lifetime energy savings of £147,475. In addition to the financial benefits, the installation is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by around 7 tonnes per year, supporting the church’s transition towards lower-carbon operation.

Beyond day-to-day energy performance, the system also provides backup capability in the event of a power outage, enabling the church to continue operating as a safe and reliable hub for the local village when support may be needed most.
