There are two fields of battery storage.

There is the AC Retrofit systems which are used alongside existing solar systems, or indeed where there is no solar and only a battery storage solution is required.

Alternatively there is the solar integrated solutions. These typically use the hybrid inverters which are both solar inverters and battery storage solutions combined into a single unit.

AC retrofit solutions:

There are two options for the AC retrofit units:

Standard AC Retrofit (ACS 3600). This unit is an excellent simple solution for adding battery storage to an existing solar system. This solution simply connects into your house fuse board and automatically charges or discharges where there is residual solar or your house needs power, and can be used to charge up where any cheap electricity is available from your supplier. This system does not affect your existing solar system in any way, and will not affect any Feed in Tariff you may have. The ACS 3600 has a maximum charge/discharge rate of 70A DC (3500w), and can 1 – 8 batteries connected to it. Adding batteries is extremely simple.

These units are G98 and G100 certified and listed on the ENA website.

Squirrel Pod AC (SQPD 3600).

This is the same unit as the standard ACS 3600 units, however these units can be linked to other units (now or in the future), to create an expandable or futureproofed solution. Again each unit has a maximum charge/discharge rate of 70A DC (3500w), and can 1 – 8 batteries connected to it. Therefore if you have 2 Squirrel Pod units installed they can offer 2 x 3500w (7000w) or charge/discharge. Adding a second unit is simple to do in the future, so often where only one AC unit is being installed it is preferable to select the Squirrel Pod units as this provides the ability to expand your system in the future if you chose to do so.

Hybrid Inverter solutions:

Where solar panels are being installed it is often preferable to use the Lux Hybrid solutions as these combine solar inverter and battery storage in a single unit. There are a number of Hybrid solutions available.

LXP 3600 Hybrid. This unit is a single phase G98 solution meaning it is 16A limited. Therefore it is a simple solution which the DNO (power companies) allow to be installed without prior application. This unit is extremely powerful and will allow up to 7kw of PV to be connected if necessary. The unit has a charge/discharge rate of 66A DC (3300w), which will work alongside the solar generation. Therefore you can send up to 16A (3680w) of power through to the property directly, and at the same time charge the batteries at up to 66A (3300w).

LXP 5000w Parallel Hybrid. This unit is a single phase G99 certified, therefore it will need an application to be made to the DNO (power companies). This unit is extremely powerful and will allow up to 8kw of PV to be connected if necessary. The unit has a charge/discharge rate of 80A DC (4000w), which will work alongside the solar generation. Therefore you can send up to 5000w of power through to the property directly, and at the same time charge the batteries at up to 80A (4000w).

The units are Parallel models meaning that they are capable of being linked to other units where larger capacity is required.

LXP 6000w Parallel Hybrid.

This unit is a

phase G99 certified, therefore it will need an application to be made to the DNO (power companies). This unit is extremely powerful and will allow up to 8kw of PV to be connected if necessary. The unit has a charge/discharge rate of 80A DC (4000w), which will work alongside the solar generation. Therefore you can send up to 6000w of power through to the property directly, and at the same time charge the batteries at up to 80A (4000w).

The units are Parallel models meaning that they are capable of being linked to other units where larger capacity is required.

LXP-LB-EU 7000w Parallel Hybrid. This is the next series larger hybrid units. This unit is single phase and is G99 certified, therefore it will need an application to be made to the DNO (power companies). This unit is extremely powerful and will allow up to 12kw of PV to be connected if necessary. The unit has a charge/discharge rate of 140A DC (7000w), which will work alongside the solar generation. Therefore you can send up to 7000w of power through to the property directly, and at the same time charge the batteries at up to 140A (7000w). These units also have an independent generator input meaning it can work in off grid situations.

The units are Parallel models meaning that they are capable of being linked to other units where larger capacity is required.

LXP-LB-EU 12000w Parallel Hybrid. This is the next series larger hybrid units. This unit is single phase and is G99 certified, therefore it will need an application to be made to the DNO (power companies). This unit is extremely powerful and will allow up to 18kw of PV to be connected if necessary. The unit has a charge/discharge rate of 240A DC (12000w), which will work alongside the solar generation. Therefore you can send up to 12000w of power through to the property directly, and at the same time charge the batteries at up to 240A (12000w). These units also have an independent generator input meaning it can work in off grid situations.
